“Project Dance is delighted to announce the arrival of the brand new Project Dance Charity Foundation (Charity Number 1210710). This Foundation is an independent charity set up and funded by Project Dance to provide dance education to all and enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds overcome financial barriers limiting their access to the benefits of dance.
The charity will put the great work already done by Project Dance to ensure wide access and inclusion to dance onto a stronger footing and provides independent oversight of that work. From next year, this charity will also administer the Project Dance Young Dancer Bursary Fund on behalf of Project Dance.” – Jacky Taylor, Chair of Trustees.
Founded by James Bamford in 2018, Project Dance is a somerset born dance organisation which works to create ground-breaking original dance productions for audiences of all ages, create opportunities for and support the next generation of young performers, and provide to society at large ways in which to connect with the arts. In August 2023, James felt a desire to expand on the fundraising and support of young people Project Dance had already achieved, by setting about on creating a charity, which would act independently of the organisation, with a sole focus on the provision of support for young people and community access to dance. After recruiting a team of proposed trustees, the process of creating and authenticating the charity began to take shape.
“We simply would not have reached this point without the support (guided passionately and unconditionally by chair Jacky Taylor) of the board of trustees. I am so grateful to them all and know the charity will be kept in very safe hands.”
– James Bamford, Director of Project Dance“The trustees would like to thank all those who have generously donated to that fund in the past and would be delighted to receive any support you are able to give to the new charity going forward.”
– Jacky Taylor, Chair of Trustees.
